Today, we are talking with former Olympian, Ashwini Nachappa! Ms Nachappa is an accomplished former athlete and also a film actress. She gained fame around the start of the 1980s, when she outran P.T. Usha on two separate occasions. She has also been referred to as India’s FloJo. In 1988 she received the Arjuna award for excellence in sports. Ms Nachappa was at the pinnacle of Indian athletics when she retired in 1991. We are extremely honoured to have her with us on the show today.
This is a career that requires a lot of dedication, as it is not easy to reach the pinnacle of a particular sport. This means that in order to become an athlete, you must be completely devoted to this dream and be passionate about the field.
Being an athlete is a lot of hard work and only the best of the best can make it. The only way you can succeed is by following the mantra – practice, practice, practice. Approach the sports association in your area and start participating in tournaments. If you do well, you will advance to the next phase and eventually represent India as a professional athlete.
